SKY SOCIETY GIRL
Cameret Bannister, Senior Director of Marketing at Janji

How did you start your career in marketing, and what motivated you to choose this field?

I studied International Business and Marketing because I wanted to have the structure of a business degree, but the flexibility of moving into both a creative and analysis-driven career. I had 3 internships in college that all experimented with different aspects of business and landed on marketing as the best fit for me. It's an ever-evolving field so it keeps me on my toes, balancing both short-term data and insights with long-term strategic planning.

What key pieces of advice would you give to someone just starting in social media marketing?

Your presence on social media is just as powerful as your resumé. You can make up for lack of business experience by showing your innate understanding of social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok. Don't be afraid to share your profiles in the application process.

What future trends in social media marketing are you most excited about and why?

I've been all over Instagram Shops lately. I've got so many items stashed away for later purchase (let's be honest, waiting for a discount code or for them to go on sale). Generally, shoppable experiences on social have come a long way – and they can be really powerful ways to convert new customers. Excited to see how this continues to evolve!
