The Sky Society Weekly Newsletter
Hey Marketing Girlies, we’re always sharing our favorite marketing campaigns with you, but we also wanted to give an honorable mention to a few controversial campaigns that grabbed the internet’s attention this past month:
👟 Adidas faced backlash for using Bella Hadid in a campaign associated with the massacre of 11 Israeli athletes and coaches at the 1972 Munich Olympics. Bella was removed from the campaign, but who’s at fault, Adidas or Bella?
💸 Central Cee and Ice Spice took marketing their music to a new level with starting elaborate dating rumors, cheating allegations and more, but at what cost?
👩🏾🍳 Nara Smith accused of copying another creator’s work with new Marc Jacobs collaboration. Some say that “it’s not that deep” while others claim it’s blatant plagiarism. Was it intentional or accidental?
Sometimes controversy is just another strategy, but is all attention good attention?

Former Celebrity Fashion Stylist at Christina Pacelli
What were the most important materials that helped you land your internship in fashion?
Networking is the most important material in getting into [fashion]. I decided to look up the top fashion stylists in LA. I noticed one thing in common from all of them, they were all under the same management - The Only Agency. Agencies show you all the stylists in your area and their socials. I emailed every celebrity stylist listed underneath the agency. All it took was that one person to see my potential.
What advice would you give marketers aspiring to land their first role in the fashion world?
My advice is to start emailing your dream brands and agencies you want to work for. Get on LinkedIn and start connecting with people who are already in jobs you want. Also, start building an online presence for yourself. When job searching, apply to everything, even jobs you feel like you don’t qualify for. Also, LinkedIn isn’t the only place you should be applying through. Some of my favorites are Fashionista, LVMH, and Business of Fashion.
