☁️ Pocket-Sized

The Sky Society Weekly Newsletter

Hey Marketing Girlies, if you’re anything like us you’ve been taking notes on Mrs. Bieber’s pocket blush launch.

We know Hailey is a Marketing Girly, but her approach to launching Rhode’s beauty line has us crowning her a Marketing Queen.

First, teasing us for TWO years to build curiosity and excitement. Then, releasing a launch campaign that plays with size and scale of the blushes. And of course, enticing hundreds to wait in line for hours for a chance to enter Rhode’s pocket-sized pop-up.

Anyways, we hope you’re enjoying your Summer with some color on your cheeks!

Post-Grad Terror: Advice from 2 Girls Going Through It

So, some of you are already a month post-grad! We understand how scary this can feel, especially without the safety net of school. We, Mariajose (one-year post-grad) and Victoria (recent post-grad), have two different perspectives that can help you out!

Mariajose (1-year post-grad)

Post-grad was a scary! Most of us imagine starting at glamorous agencies in cute outfits, but reality proved to be quite different. I juggled a part-time job with full-time job hunting and briefly landed a toxic "marketing" gig that I quit after two months.

After, almost landing another marketing role only to be told they were hit with a hiring freeze, I joined Sky Society Accelerator, desperately needing to refresh my marketing skills after a year out of the field. Thankfully, a year post-grad, I secured an internship likely to become a full-time job, adding to my three prior internships.

Life post-grad is unpredictable; my biggest advice is to not give up and be kind to yourself! Many peers mentioned taking six months to land a job—not for lack of skills but due to a tumultuous job market. Continue developing skills and networking as much as you can.

You’re worthy of your dream career and success. It’s important to recognize that no one’s life trajectory is the same or linear; you will eventually get where you want to be in your career, but with anything good, it may take a while. (and a bit of luck too tbh)

Victoria (recent post-grad)

I was so excited for post-grad, and college truly flew by. Like many, I graduated without a job lined up, which was daunting as I'm a planner. The final months felt like a blur.

I remember after grad weekend sitting in my room staring at my cap and gown telling myself that it's okay and I know I am not the only one who graduated without an offer.

I dream of working in marketing in San Francisco, joining a run club, and a cooking/baking club. I'm optimistic about the future and like to think that change will always be good. Yet, growth only happens if you put yourself in an opportunity’s way.

I am living in this post-grad era with you all, your feelings are more than valid, and change is so so so scary. It doesn't mean that it has to be bad. Find the things in life that make you smile and hold on tight because the next few months will be a rollercoaster. One that starts such an exciting chapter in your life!
