Each week, Sky Society Accelerator students attend mentor workshops hosted by our Marketing Girly Mentors. Here’s this week’s highlights:


Brenna McDuffie - Clinique + Origins, Director of Brand Voice and Copy
In Brenna’s “Breaking into Copywriting” workshop, we covered the fundamentals of copywriting, including key skills, career paths, and opportunities. A major takeaway was the importance of understanding a brand’s voice by analyzing its social media and messaging to develop stronger ideas. We also learned to “kill your darlings,” recognizing that not every idea will be chosen in a collaborative setting. The workshop emphasized storytelling, strategic thinking, and diplomacy as essential skills for succeeding in creative teams.

Karis Felton - New York Jets, Marketing Manager
In Karis’ “Clicks & Conversions: Paid Social Ads” workshop, she covered how to create engaging ads and how sports teams drive ticket sales, brand awareness, and partnerships. Paid social targets specific audiences and is used to promote tickets, boost content, and generate revenue. Ads must be compelling, creative, and meaningful. She shared a Mother’s Day campaign featuring a Kendra Scott necklace with purchase. A key tip: test more ads to see what performs, if budget allows.
